8:29 p.m.: The state duals are in the books. Davenport Assumption held off No. 1 West Delaware 30-29 when Joe Riley fought off bonus points in the last match, dropping an 8-1 decision to Brent Lammers at 170, the last match of the dual.
Dylan Blackford’s pin at 170 capped Southeast Polk’s 46-20 victory against Bettendorf.
7:52 p.m.: Davenport Assumption has reeled off seven straight victories to take a 30-23 win against West Delaware. The Knights can clinch the dual with a win at 160.
7:45 p.m.: Southeast Polk has clinched its first boys state title in the school’s 50-year history. Sam Jones’ fall at 152 pushed the Rams to a 36-20 lead with two matches to go.
7:32 p.m.: Alburnett coach Kane Thompson on his team’s title performance against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont: “Walking through the line there youâre thinking you want to beat their best lineup, but theyâre doing what they think is best for their guys and Iâm doing what I think is best for my guys. I wouldâve loved nothing more than to battle it out with all of their best guys, but that wasnât the case, so we took advantage of what was put in front of us.â
7:31 p.m.: Southeast Polk is on the verge of wrapping up the first boys state title in school history. The Rams lead Bettendorf 30-16 and they’re favored in three of the last four matches.
7:21: Davenport Assumption is cutting into West Delaware’s lead. The Knights trail 23-18 after 132.
7:07 p.m.: Alburnett has wrapped up its first state duals title with a 60-21 win against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. The Pirates trailed 21-0 before winning the last 10 bouts, including three by forfeit.
6:48 p.m.: Southeast Polk is out to a 21-0 lead over Bettendorf after four matches in the 3-A title bout. The Rams scored pins at 182, 195 and 220 to start the dual.
Alburnett has recovered after a slow start to take a 24-21 lead over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont after 126 pounds in the Class 1-A championship meet.
West Delaware is out to a 19-0 lead against Davenport Assumption after four matches in the 2-A title meet.
5:57 p.m. Class 2-A: No. 6 Union of La Porte City takes fifth with a 36-33 win over No. 5 Creston/Orient-Macksburg.
5:40 p.m. Class 3-A: Dowling Catholic defeats No. 4 Linn-Mar, 51-18 to finish seventh.
5:16 p.m. Class 1-A: Sumner-Fredericksburg will take fifth. They lead No. 2 Emmetsburg 55-6.
5:01 p.m. Class 3-A: Ankeny’s Alec Helmkamp with a pin in 26 seconds. Hawks trails Pleasant Valley 15-9 in the fifth place match.
4:55 p.m. Class 3-A: Linn-Mar, which rested most of its starters in the quarterfinals, has forfeited three matches against Dowling Catholic in the consolations.
4:51 p.m. Class 3-A: Dowling Catholic has a 33-12 lead over No. 4 Linn-Mar. Linn-Mar sat most of its state qualifiers during its quarterfinal match to keep them safe and fresh for tomorrow’s traditional tournament.
4:49 p.m. Class 3-A: Pleasant Vallley leading Ankeny 11-0 in a consolation match.
