Lauren Stopko doesn’t have much spare time, but that’s just fine with her.

The junior is the libero for the 15th-ranked Clear Creek Amana volleyball team, and that’s the first item on a long list of activies. Stopko also plays basketball and softball, runs track, is on the student council, participates in Win With Wellness and is on the Students Assistance Team.

“Volleyball, for sure, is my favorite,” she said. “It’s my best sport. I like to play it all the time.”

The Clippers went 22-9 in the regular season despite not having a single senior on the team.

“At first, I was a little concerned about how everything was going, since we were all juniors,” Stopko said. “The first game against (second-ranked) Solon went kind of rough. … But we all just blended together, and now I’m really confident in our team.”

With every player set to return next year, the future looks bright at Clear Creek Amana, but Stopko wants to get to the state tournament now.

“I’m just really hoping we can go far,” she said.

Though college is more than a year away, Stopko hopes to play volleyball at the next level and plans to study something in the medical field.
