Copperas Cove (Texas) kicked a field goal with 1 second remaining to take a 41-38 lead over A&M Consolidated (College Station, Texas) on Friday night. The ensuing kickoff seemed like a formality. It was anything but.
A&M Consolidated fielded Copperas Cove’s short squib kick and, after several laterals, returned it 50 yards for the stunning, game-winning score. The entire play took 30 seconds.
“That was the wildest game I’ve ever been a part of,” Copperas Cove quarterback Manny Harris told the Killeen Daily Herald. “We just can’t make mistakes like that. I just couldn’t believe he was about to score. It was crazy.”
I wonder what former Copperas Cove star Robert Griffin III thought of that play. Probably the same thing as the dude at the end of the video. OH. MY. GOSH.
