Though the New Paltz High School girls swimming team fell to host Middletown, 104-79, Bridget Rodezno won two events for the visiting Huguenots in Thursday’s Orange County League meet.
Rodezno placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (56.68) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.38) for New Paltz (3-6). Caroline Murphy won the 100 backstroke in 1:03.74
Monroe-Woodbury 96, Rhinebeck 63 — Kate Bergin placed first in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.18, but the visiting Hawks (0-8) lost an Orange County League meet.
Newburgh Free Academy 96, Franklin D. Roosevelt 79 — Sarah Izzo won the 200 individual medley in 2:34.48 and Skye Haskell won the 1-meter diving competion with a score of 169.05, but the visiting Presidents (0-8) lost an Orange County League meet.
Kingston 87, Marlboro 72 — The Iron Dukes lost an Orange County League meet on the road.
Our Lady of Lourdes 92, Roy C. Ketcham 78 — Grace Nikolski won two events for the host Warriors at Poughkeepsie Middle School late Wednesday, including the 100 freestyle, which she qualified in for the Section 1 championships with a winning time of 57.10.
Nikolski also placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.41).
Other winners for Lourdes (8-1-1) were Hannah Coffin (200 individual medley, 2:32.58) and Rachel Webb (100 backstroke, 1:08.78).
“I just wanted to stress how proud I am of this team,” Lourdes coach Billy MacElveen said in a statement. “At full strength, we have 15 girls, making us one of the smallest teams in (Section 1), yet the girls keep coming out and stepping up meet after meet.
Ameera Bhanji won the 100 butterfly (1:05.20) and 500 freestyle for Ketcham (5-5).
Other winners were Heidi Simpfenderfer (200 freestyle, 2:08.26) and Katie Ruf (50 freestyle, 26.95).
