ZANESVILLE
It was an impressive sophomore campaign for Tri-Valley’s Kade Kowalski.
He claimed a second consecutive Muskingum Valley League title, won sectional and district crowns and finished third in the state at 132 pounds in Division II at the state wrestling championships March 2 at Ohio State’s Value City Arena.
Kowalski capped the season with another accolade — the MVL wrestler of the year.
Veteran Sheridan coach Chris King was the league’s coach of the year. His team captured the MVL title behind six champions and three runner-ups. The Generals qualified 12 wrestlers for the Goshen district, where they finished third behind state power St. Paris Graham and Hamilton Ross and sent three wrestlers to state.
The All-MVL team, which consists of league champions, included Sheridan’s Cayne Bennett, Ethan Kehn, Nathan Kehn, Devin King, Evan Loughman and R.J. Waugh; the Scotties’ Austin Jones and Slade Tyson; New Lexington’s Jerald Spohn and Nick Tolliver, Crooksville’s Aaron Keister, Morgan’s Kaleb Driggs and Philo’s Luke Miller.
