Hey everybody! I hope your summer has gotten off to a great start! I’m finally out of school for the summer and ready to get back to writing some blogs. My summer will be full of football workouts, and I’m going to hit them hard as I prepare to help my team win states this upcoming season.
Before I start giving you all the insiders pass to my summer plan, I want to give a quick shout out to my team the Miami Heat for getting to the finals (again). OK, now that I got that out of my system, I’ll fill you in on my summer plans.
First off, we start football training at Carmel next week. Everyone is ready to go! Ever since our loss in the first round to Warren Central everyone has been hitting it hard, individually preparing themselves for the upcoming season. Whether it be in another sport or working out alone, we all have one major goal: to win the 5A state championship.
Personally, I’ve also set the goal of being named Mr. Football for the state of Indiana. My track coach caught my goal and made my track workouts this off-season insanely intense so I’m in the best shape of my life heading into football camp. This will be my first camp with the Greyhounds since I moved to Carmel so I’m extra anxious to go get it!
When our camp is over I’ll get a grace period before I encounter my next endeavor: The Opening at Nike world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. I’ve wanted to participate in this event since my freshman year, and I was blessed to be invited for the 2014 installment! The opportunity to go up against the top 150 players in the nation is amazing, the thought of it is already getting my blood rushing just writing this blog! The event is covered by ESPN on July 3 so be sure to check me out!
To prepare for the intense competition of The Opening, I’m going to work out multiple times with my dad and soak up as much of the coaching he gives. I know I’ll be ready to go compete!
OK you guys, I have to watch my Heat go take on the Spurs. I’ll be back to tell you all how Camp and The Opening went. Until next time!
