Gaetan Brugger took fourth-place at No. 3 singles as Fremont Ross finished sixth at Saturday’s TRAC tennis tournament held at Ross.
Brugger topped Blaze Okey of Clay 6-3, 6-3 in his first match. After dropping a 6-1, 6-1 match to Findlay’s Will Jones, he battled back from 6-2 loss in the first set to top Eli Spang of St. Francis de Sales 6-0 in the second set. But Spang earned a 6-4 win in the third set to earn the victory.
Taran Rodriguez was fifth for Ross at second singles, losing 6-0, 6-1 to Sam Unnerstall of St. Francis before a pair of 8-4 matches.
Sixth-seeded Robert Joerg finished sixth in the No.1 singles tournament for the Little Giants. Jonathan Alexander and Dom Meins took fifth at first doubles and Nate Rellinger and Connor Martin battled to fifth-place finish at second doubles.
St. John’s Jesuit edged Findlay 37-36 in the final tournament points. The victory allowed the Titans to wrap up the TRAC league title by four points over the Trojans. Ross finished sixth behind Clay, St. Francis and Central Catholic.
