The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team upset Lone Tree 6-3 in a Class 1A district semifinal Thursday in Riverside.
IMS got out to an early lead with a two-run single by Dallas Nye in the first inning. IMS took a 5-1 lead with a three-run fourth inning, and scored a sixth run in the fifth. Lone Tree loaded the bases with one out in the fifth, but the IMS defense got out of the inning unscathed.
Cameron Gingerich hit 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs for IMS. Gingerich also got the win on the mound with six strikeouts.
Andy Dodson hit 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Lone Tree. Colin Gibson was 2-for-4 with a triple. Gabe Lorack went 2-for-3, while Bryan Forbes hit 2-for-4. Lone Tree finished its season 17-10.
IMS (13-14) will play Van Buren (21-5) in a district final at 7 p.m. Saturday in Fairfield. IMS lost to Van Buren 14-5 on July 9.
* WEST HIGH 15, DAVENPORT CENTRAL 2 (5): The Trojans completed the regular season with a quick win at West High.
Ezra Reiners had three hits with a double and three runs, and Sam Searls had three hits with a double and four RBIs. Andrew Raymer pitched three shutout innings for the win.
West is 32-7.
