The Ripon Tigers boys soccer team were able to withstand a tying goal by the Lourdes Academy Knights to take home a 2-1 victory on J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Tigers scored first in the opening minutes of the game on a Ben Pulvermacher goal.
But Lourdes found the equalizer in the second half on a Brady Schneider goal on an assist from Alex Stadler to pull the Knights even in the 65th minute
However, just minutes later, Ripon would take the momentum back. Elias Nelson would find the back of the net in the 67th minute to give the Tiger a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
“We gave a lot of effort to get the game tied,” Lourdes coach Peter LaCourse said. “We had a lot of chances to score. But Ripon scored and they won. They were the better team because they took advantage of their chances.”
Ripon’s Sam Vander Plas made 10 saves in net for the Tigers in the win, while his counterpart Jesse Boehm made six in the loss for Lourdes.
