Week 3 of the prep football season proves to be the best yet for area teams.
There are so many games to note.
In the Granite Ridge Conference, defending champ Becker is host to Foley at 7 p.m. Friday. The Falcons are emerging as a team with a good chance to dethrone the Bulldogs.
St. Cloud Cathedral (1-1) is host to Albany (1-1) in a “home” game that actually is in the Huskies’ backyard at 8 p.m. Friday at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.
In the Central Lakes Conference, St. Cloud Apollo tries to move to 3-0 for the first time in recent memory when it plays at 7 p.m. Friday at Sauk Rapids (0-2).
There is also a CLC game at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Cloud State when Rocori (0-2) plays St. Cloud Tech (1-1).
A quick look at some of the week’s highlights in other sports:
* Sauk Rapids vs. Tech girls soccer, 7 p.m. at Husky Stadium.
Tech (1-0-1 CLC, 1-2-2 overall) is one of four unbeatens in the conference. (Alexandria, Braingerd and Fergus Falls are the others). Tech’s played a tough nonconference schedule. Sauk Rapids (0-3-0, 0-4-1) seeks its first win.
