Eric Tolhurst made six saves to record his third consecutive shutout and No. 4 Harley-Allendale Columbia scored on an own goal to defeat No. 1 Arkport 1-0 in a Section V Class D1 soccer semifinal match on Tuesday.
Galen Everett had a long throw in that deflected off the goalie’s hands and went into the net with seven minutes remaining for the Wolves (9-8-1).
Harley-Allendale Columbia, went 3-12-1 last year and didn’t make the Class C sectional tournament, advances to a sectional final for the first time since 2005.
“It’s basically the same kids (as last year),” H-AC coach Ted Hunt said. “They grew up and became better competitors out on the field. They’re a year older and a year tougher.”
The Wolves won sectionals in 2004 and 2005.
Arkport finishes 14-3-1.
No. 3 Jasper-Troupsburg 1, No. 2 Fillmore 0
Tyler VanSkiver scored in the 43rd minute to lift defending D1 champion Jasper-Troupsburg (13-3-1).
VanSkiver dribbled down the left side, cut to the middle and made a shot from 25 yards out. Dalton Cady made eight saves in the shutout.
Fillmore is 14-3-1.
No. 1 Webster Christian 6, No. 4 Scio 1
Josh Whitmire tallied two goals and one assist and Nate O’Dell added a goal with two assists to power Webster Christian (17-1).
Giovanni Coraggioso tallied a goal with three assists for the Warriors.
Scio finishes 11-5-2.
No.1 Monroe 26-25-17-25, No. 8 Pavilion 24-16-25-13
Michael Voelkl tallied seven assists and 17 kills and Nelson Alicea added 13 service points and two assists for Monroe (13-3).
Jacob Hoffman had eight kills and five digs for Pavilion (7-11).
