Emily Costello collected 16 kills and four aces to lead No. 1-seeded Mercy to a four-game victory over No. 5 Fairport in the semifinals of the Section V Class AA girls volleyball tournament on Tuesday.
Hannah Cannon tallied 21 assists and 12 digs and Terese Cannon finished with 17 kills and 10 digs for the Monarchs, who won by scores of 25-23, 25-21, 19-25 and 25-17.
Mercy will play Penfield in a rematch of last year’s Class AA championship, which the Monarchs won in three games, at 8 p.m. on Friday at Gates Chili.
Michelle Kott had 15 kills and Lydia Ooyama recorded 23 digs, including 11 in the first game, for Fairport (12-7).
Aubrey Totsline added 35 assists for the Red Raiders.

Pittsford Sutherland is seeking its third sectional title in the last four years.

Savannah Tyo scored off a Caitlin Owens corner kick two minutes into the second overtime to lift Greece Odyssey (9-8-2) to its fourth straight trip to the Section V Class B title game.
Tyo volleyed in Owens’ corner to the far right back post for the Leopards, who will face No. 4 Hornell in a rematch of the 2012 Class B championship, in which Odyssey rallied to score three unanswered goals to earn the title.
Vanessa Dornelus made five saves for her fourth consecutive shutout and seventh overall for Odyssey.
Brittany Orlowski stopped eight shots for Bath (13-5).
