Appleton North 3, Fond du Lac 1: After dropping a tough five-set match Tuesday, the Fond du Lac girls volleyball team lost its second-straight Fox Valley Association game Thursday at home to Appleton North.

The Lightning won by scores of 25-14, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-13.

For Fondy, Jenna Rosenthall had a team-high 14 kills and 3.5 blocks while Allison Duley had 27 assists and eight digs.

“We’re in a little bit of a rut right now and we need to get out of it,” Fond du Lac (7-10, 2-2) coach Kevin Santry said.

Laconia 3, NFDL 0: The Spartans held the Orioles to single digits in two sets as Kelsey Birschbach and Carly Huebschman had seven and six kills and Haley Smith had 25 assists.

Emily Ostram added seven digs and six aces for Laconia (1-1 Flyway), while Billi Retzleff led NFDL (1-2) with five kills and seven digs.

NFDL/O 2, Mayville 1: The Cardinals led 1-0 early, but the Nuts answered with unassisted goals by Justin Pooler and Ben Mand had the go-ahead goal in the 50th minute.

Trenton Vielbig made 11 saves for North Fond du Lac/Oakfield, which won its second game of the season.

Jorge Meza had two assists as Waupun forced Kewaskum’s Kater Gruth to make 23 saves in the second half.

Fond du Lac 6, Menasha 1: The Cardinals swept doubles play and the top three singles flights, with all wins coming in straight sets.

Maddie Bahr (No. 1), Elizabeth Browy (No. 2) and Toni Winkler (No. 3) had singles wins, while the doubles teams of Annie Hierl/Kelli Cole (No. 1), Hannah Grahl/Grace Kisch (No. 2) and Kendalynn Acheson/Alyssa Anhalt (No. 3) also won.

Oshkosh West 197, Fond du Lac 221: The Wildcats were 24 strokes better than the Cardinals at Rolling Meadows Golf Course, where Shania Schibbelhut led Fondy with a 51.

Courtney Kohlmann’s 55, Katrina Smith’s 56 and Madeline Krolczyk’s 59 rounded out the Cardinals’ scoring varsity.
