The Fond du Lac baseball team trailed 6-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, where they rallied for four runs to top Neenah 7-6 at home.

The Cardinals (6-8) started off the bottom of the seventh with a walk by Blaine Evans. Then after one out, Devin Simon had a base hit. Logan Wendt drove in in the first run with a single, then after an out, Ian Locke tied the game with a two-run double to score two more. Jack Nejedlo then drove in the game winning run with a single to score Locke’s courtesy runner.

“It was a great display of hitting in the end,” Fondy head coach Marty Paulsen said. “They had a nice approach to the plate and Hunter pitched a great game for us.”

Schmitts went all seven innings, gave up six runs (four earned) on six hits and struck out seven.

At North Fond du Lac, the Ledgers used four shutout innings from Brennan Ottery, as he added five strikeouts in the 10-1 win.

Springs scored three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to break open a 3-0 lead.

Shelby Sabel finished with a goal and three assists, Kelsey Schneider had two goals and Abby Weinke had two goals.

At Oshkosh, Bethany Westphal scored on a direct free kick in double overtime to shut out Lourdes, 1-0.

Abby Hilbert recorded four saves for the Vikings.

Lomira 3

At Lomira, North Fond du Lac/Oakfield scored two goals within the first ten minutes and got two goals out of Brooke Rymer to defeat the Lions 4-3.

Rymer scored in the opening two minutes from a pass from Reilly Louko and scored once again in the 69th minute off another pass from Louko. That final goal broke a 3-3 tie.

It was a fun night for the Cougars, who earned their 10th win of the season as six different players scored.

Junior Landon Donigain had a hat trick — including one goal on a header off a pass from Brooke Birschbach. Other scores came from Leah Ruplinger, Tiffany Anderson, Cady Ostreich, Alyssa Benike and Theresa Flood.

“I was able to move players around and get some of the other girls in,” Campbellsport (10-3-2) coach Tim Scannell said. “It was good to see some of our younger players in there.”

Matt Luedtke picked up the win on the mound by throwing a three-hitter in seven innings. Tyler Neuman went 3-for-3, while Mason Sterr went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
