The Twinsburg High School girls basketball team is set to make the program’s third consecutive Ohio High School Athletic Association state tournament appearance when the Tigers (28-0) play Olentangy Orange (26-2) in a Division I state semifinal contest today at Ohio State’s Value City Arena.
The two-time defending state champions, Twinsburg is ranked first in the final Associated Press state poll of the season. The Tigers are led offensively by seniors Ashley Morrissette and Brooke Smith and junior Baleigh Reid.
Morrissette, who averages 19.1 points per game, was named The Associated Press Ms. Basketball award winner on Wednesday. Smith, who averages 14 points per contest, received All-Ohio Special Mention recognition. Reid, who averages 11 points per game, earned Northeast Inland All-District Special Mention recognition.
Twinsburg head coach Julie Solis, who owns a sparkling 103-5 record at the helm of the Tigers, was named a Division I Coach of the Year by the Associated Press.
