Union scored 52 points in the second half to break away from a narrow three-point lead at halftime and beat Blue River 82-70 Friday in the Class A Blue River Sectional.
Both teams had 29 points in a marathon fourth quarter.
In the second game, Seton Catholic beat Union City 67-42 to set up tonight’s game against Union for the title. The Rockets will go for a second straight championship after a drought of more than four decades.
“I told my team it was going to be hard playing the home team in a sectional game,” Union coach Jeff Holloway said. “(Blue River) shot really well, but the kids on both teams battled, and we had enough at the end to hold them off.”
Union was led by Willie Eviston with 28 points. Tanner Cates and Spencer Shore each scored 20.
The Vikings hit 15 treys in the game, seven by sophomore Noah Madison himself, as Madison had a team-high 24 points.
Union City finished 2-18 under first-year head coach Dustin Baldwin after falling to Seton. The Rockets were led by junior Tre Burton with a game-high 18 points.
