KUSA – During Valor Christians nationally televised game on ESPN 2, Sharif Williams, a player from California’s Central East High School, suffered a horrifying season ending leg injury.
Williams, a senior defensive tackle for the Grizzlies, had verbally committed to play football at the University of Arizona next year.
After laying on the field in agonizing pain for over 20 minutes, Williams was eventually carted off the field on a stretcher and taken away in an ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Valor went on to dominate the game, beating the Grizzlies 31-7, but it was what the Eagles did after the game that may have been more impressive.
Valor put together a video, where players, coaches, students, staff and faculty, all wished Williams a speedy recovery. A true act of class by the Eagles and refreshing to see a school take the time to do.
