Van Beek picks up postseason honors

Following a school-record-setting performance at the state swim meet last Saturday, Fond du Lac junior Cameron Van Beek received several postseason honors this week.

He was named Fox Valley Association second-team all-conferece in the 500-yard freestyle — the event in which he set a new Cardinals’ record with a time of 4 minutes, 49.49 seconds at the state meet.

By placing 12th at Madison, he attained honorable mention all-state. He entered the event seeded 23rd, and set a new career-best time by 7 seconds.

Van Beek also earned FVA honorable mention in the 200 freestyle.

Two other teammates also earned FVA honorable mention. They were Ian Lock in the 100 butterfly, and Riley Pankratz in the 100 backstroke.
