Alyssa Mullins had eight points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks to lead host Vestal to a 43-34 victory over Norwich on Thursday in a Southern Tier Athletic Conference girls basketball game.
Vestal (9-9) had a 9-1 run to start the game before Norwich switched to a 2-3 zone and stymied the Golden Bears’ offense. Vestal scored only six points for the remainder of the first half and trailed 16-15 at halftime.
In the second half Vestal used a full-court press to take the lead and eventually pull away from the Purple Tornado.
Norwich (10-7) was led by point guard Jenny Borfitz with 13 points.
Union-Endicott 51, Chenango Forks 48: Katy Vienneau scored 11 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter to bring U-E back from a nine-point third-quarter deficit.
Vienneau added 11 rebounds for the Tigers. Union-Endicott will face Binghamton in a Class AA semifinal matchup on February 22 at 6 p.m.
Michaela Transue led the Blue Devils with 18 points.
Valley 44, Ithaca 39: Maddie Staiger scored all 10 of her points in the second half as Chenango Valley outlasted Ithaca.
Hannah Elliot added 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors. Chenango Valley will play at Waverly February 19 at 7 p.m. in a Class B semifinal matchup.
Taylor DePalma scored 18 points to lead the Little Red.
Valley 64, Ithaca 40: Chris Ruffo scored 26 points to lead Chenango Valley over Ithaca.
The Warriors led by 10 at halftime and pulled away in the second half. Chenango Valley will host Waverly on February 20 at 7 p.m. in a Class B semifinal game.
Eric Lovett and Bruce Greene each scored 10 points for Ithaca.
