St. Philip will open the playoffs Friday at home against Waldron

Waldron (5-4) at St. Philip (9-0)
A banged-up St. Philip team has to be worried about this trap game in the first round of the playoffs in 8-man football. The Tigers rolled over Waldron, 48-0, just three weeks ago and beat that same team twice last year. And the Tigers are coming off an emotional win over Lawrence to finish the season undefeated. But St. Philip will most likely be without its quarterback for the game vs. Waldron as Alex Doyle left the contest against Waldron with a knee injury. Doyle may be able to return later in the playoffs, but will probably sit out this week against Waldron. Brendan Gausselin will start at quarterback and has thrown for 457 yards and seven touchdowns in a backup capacity already this year and he’ll be throwing to Hunter Haley with 528 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns. St. Philip will also be able to rely on its running game with Isaac Cloward, who has 924 yards and 18 touchdowns and Brayden Darr with 619 yards and five touchdowns.
