Ryan Van Maanen ran for three scores and threw for another, but Valley Christian came up short in its season opener, falling to Sevastopol, 70-26, on Friday night.

Van Maanen found Joseph Schettle for a 32-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring and then scored on a 1-yard run to take a 12-6 lead.

Sevastopol, though, scored the next 58 points to take control of the game, with Van Maanen scoring on runs of 32 yards and 45 yards for the Warriors.

Valley Christian will play its first home game of the season next Saturday, when it hosts Green Bay NEW Lutheran at 1 p.m.
