No. 9 Arlington (3-0) at No. 2 Oakland (3-0)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Ray Hughes Stadium

Last meeting: Arlington beat Oakland 31-28 in 2012.

Key players to watch: Arlington: QB Hunter Sheffield (257.7 passing ypg, 6 TDs), WR Jonathon Bowlen (13 rec., 56.3 receiving ypg, 2 TDs), WR Jackson Boring 13 rec., 47.3 receiving ypg), WR K.J. Bates (10 rec., 81 receiving ypg, 2 TDs). Oakland: RB Fred Wade (128.7 rushing ypg, 3 TDs), RB Darryle Hood Jr. (102.7 rushing ypg), DB Emmanuel Smith (15 tackles, 2 FR, FF, INT), LB Kevin Prather (36 tackles, 5 TFL).

Keys to the game: The second-straight Class 6A top-10 matchup will feature very contrasting styles: Arlington’s spread offense versus Oakland’s power running game. Ball control and time of possession will be key for the Patriots to stay unbeaten.

No. 5 Blackman (3-0) at Mt. Juliet (2-1)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Bear Stadium

Radio: MTSNOnline.com

Last meeting: Blackman defeated Mt. Juliet 42-16 in 2002.

Key players to watch: Blackman: QB Jauan Jennings (97.7 passing ypg, 87.7 rushing ypg), RB Cole Notgrass (97.3 rushing ypg), LB Austin Mosier (22 tackles), WR/DB Styles Corder (31.7 receiving ypg). Mt. Juliet: TE Michael Khoury (three-year starter), RB Ben Cheatham, MLB Brigham Powell (three-year starter), RB Kyle Smith (93.3 rushing ypg).

Keys to the game: QB Alex Landis replaces the injured Nolan Chowbay. Landis is more of a running quarterback, which will force the Bears to adjust their offensive scheme. Blackman faces its second straight Wing-T team. That familiarity should pay off.

MTCS (3-0, 0-0 in 9-A) at Fayetteville (2-0, 1-0 in 9-A)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Fayetteville High

Last meeting: This is the first meeting.

Key players to watch: MTCS: QB Justin Winn (179.7 passing ypg, 51.3 rushing ypg), RB Tanner Green (107 rushing ypg), LB Brayden Melton (26 tackles), DE Nick Merritt (18 tackles, 4.5 sacks). Fayetteville: QB Trevonte Emmons, RB Dorian Thompson, WR Ryan Yates, WR Michael Hardin.

Keys to the game: MTCS must get Fayetteville’s offense to move side-to-side. If the Tigers cut it upfield, they can take off in a hurry. The Cougars must continue to mix it up on offense. Green is off to a good start running the football, which has been overlooked by Winn’s hot start passing the football.

No. 10 (5A) Northeast (2-1) at Smyrna (3-0)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Robert L. Raikes Stadium

Last meeting: Northeast defeated Smyrna 14-6 in 1990.

Key players to watch: Northeast: QB Montrell Pardue, RB Dontavious Fort-Merriweather, RB/WR Marquez McCalpin, WR Eric Webster. Smyrna: RB LaDarius Summers (148.3 rushing ypg, 7 TDs), QB Matt Rodell (80.7 passing ypg), LB Taylor Gardner (20 tackles), LB Austin Brown (14 tackles).

Keys to the game: Northeast has the speed to be able to rip off big plays if the Bulldogs don’t tackle well. The Eagles will run the read option and Pardue is an elusive quarterback. Smyrna’s offense must win the time of possession battle by running the football consistently.

No. 3 (II-AA) McCallie (3-0) at No. 9 (6A) Siegel (1-2)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Ken Nolan Stadium

Last meeting: This is the first meeting.

Siegel: RB Denzel Harding (111.3 total ypg, 3 TDs), QB Dakota Crane (78.5 completion percentage, 200 passing ypg, 5 TDs), WR Weston Hayes (12 rec., 60.7 receiving ypg, 3 TDs), WR Domnique Gooch (11 rec., 53.7 receiving ypg).

Keys to the game: The playoffs may be a couple of months away, but this non-district game could prove critical to the Stars’ playoff chances. While the Stars are averaging a modest 34.7 points per game, McCallie is averaging 48 points per game. Expect a shootout and the team with the fewest turnovers winning this one.

Ravenwood (2-0) at La Vergne (1-2)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Freedom Field

Last meeting: Ravenwood defeated La Vergne 33-14 in 2004.

Key players to watch: Ravenwood: WR Van Jefferson (150.5 receiving ypg), QB Avery Jankowski (195 passing ypg), RB Chris Rowland (46 rushing ypg), RB Taylor Warren (42 rushing ypg). La Vergne: QB C.J. Fore (221 passing ypg), RB Maleik Gray (46.7 rushing ypg), WR Quinn Jernighan (129 receiving ypg), WR J.J. Horner (58 receiving ypg).

Keys to the game: Ravenwood has given up just six points in two games this season. Fore has gotten on track early the past couple of games, and must do it again tonight.

No. 2 (5A) E. Hamilton (3-0) at Riverdale (0-3)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Tomahawk Stadium

Radio: WGNS (1450-AM, 100.5-FM, 101.9-FM)

Riverdale: RB Austin McGrone (39.3 rushing ypg), QB Marquel Odom (30.7 passing ypg), WR Tad Onwu (22.7 recieving ypg), LB Ben Wells.

Keys to the game: The Warriors meet their third state-ranked team in four weeks. The Hurricanes are athletic on both sides of the ball and can air it out. Riverdale must get its offense on track after failing to cross the 50-yard line a week ago.

Gallatin (1-1) at Stewarts Creek (0-3)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Red Hawk Stadium

Last meeting: First meeting.

Key players to watch: Gallatin: QB Clay Carnes (149.5 passing ypg, 2 TDs), RB Eric Debow (91 rushing ypg, 5 TDs), WR Dedarius Redding (47.5 receiving ypg, TD), WR Nick Tuck (25.5 receiving ypg). Stewarts Creek: QB Mason Hall (132 passing ypg), RB Jerry Carnell (82.7 total ypg), SE Cynterius Lyons (55.7 receiving ypg), LB Connor Helton.

Keys to the game: The Green Wave are averaging 42.5 points per game in two games. The Red Hawks are allowing 46.7 points per game. Creek must reverse both trends in order to keep this one close.

No. 10 (1A) Jo Byrns (1-1) at No. 9 (2A) Eagleville (3-0)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Talon Field

Last meeting: Jo Byrns defeated Eagleville 17-8 in 2008.

Eagleville: RB Chris Hale (140.7 rushing ypg, 7 total TDs), QB Ryan Jordan (12-23 passing, 4 TDs), WR Maison Vallance (44.7 receiving ydg, 2 TDs), LB Isaac Haley (20 tackles).

Keys to the game: Jo Byrns will rely heavily on the arm of Adkins and the hands of Hyde, both of whom have all-state ability. The Eagles are plus-five in turnover margin on the season and will need to maintain that number to keep the Adkins-Hyde combo on the sideline.

Cannon County (0-2) at Red Boiling Springs (1-2)

When: 7 p.m., today

Where: Bulldog Stadium

Radio: WBRY (96.7-FM , 1540-AM).

Last meeting: This is the first meeting.

players to watch: Cannon County: QB A.J. Daniel (6-0, 170), RB B.J. Daniel (6-1, 205), SE Wilder Mankin, OL/DL Dalton Ryan (6-0, 270). Red Boiling Springs: OL/DL Dakota Dickens (5-11, 240), OL/DL Dallas Greanead (6-1, 220), WR/DB Kason Wheeler (6-0, 135), WR/DB Spenser Tuck.

Keys to the game: The Lions have still yet to score a point in 2013 and must change that trend if they ever intend to end a 22-game losing streak. The offense must be more diverse instead of force-feeding the ball to one or two players too.
