Sammy Mireles rushed for 343 yards, allowing him break the Indiana high school career rushing record. He has 7,639 yards heading into next week’s state tournament. The previous record of 7,560 yards was held by Cathedral’s Otis Shannon, the 2000 IndyStar Mr. Football.
Avon 12, Zionsville 7
Matt Moore caught a 9-yard pass touchdown from Brandon Peters with 5:20 left to lift the Orioles (6-3, 6-3) over the Eagles (4-5, 4-5) in Hoosier Crossroads Conference action. David Schall rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown for the Orioles.
Triton Central 31, Speedway 7
Dillon Nelson threw for 103 yards and two touchdowns on Friday night, leading the Tigers (7-2, 5-2) over the Sparkplugs (6-3, 4-3) in an Indiana Crossroads Conference showdown. Jonah Thacker had 120 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Fishers 41, Brownsburg 17
Maurice Campbell rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns in the Class 6A No. 6 Tigers’ (8-1, 8-1) Hoosier Crossroads Conference win over the Bulldogs (3-6, 3-6). Quarterback Connor Christiansen went 12-for-15, passing for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Bulldogs quarterback Hunter Johnson threw for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
Decatur Central 29, Franklin 7
The Hawks (5-4, 5-1) beat Mid-State Conference rival (5-4, 2-4). Eli Conlin led the Hawks’ offense, scoring two rushing touchdowns. Franklin’s only score came on a 75-yard run by Chad Williams.
Whiteland 28, Greenwood 7
The 5A No. 4 Warriors (7-2, 6-0 Mid-State) beat the Woodmen (4-5, 2-4). Isaiah Calaway scored two receiving touchdowns. Austin Montgomery scored on a 3-yard run for the Woodmen.
Tri-West 54, Crawfordsville 14
Kyle Hendershot’s three touchdown passes sparked the Class 3A No. 10 Bruins (8-1, 4-0) past the visiting Athenians (0-9, 0-7). The victory, coupled with a Lebanon loss, gave Tri-West the Sagamore Conference championship outright.
Martinsville 39, Plainfield 28
Mason Kutruff threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns as the Artesians (7-2, 4-2) defeated the Quakers (4-5, 2-4) in Mid-State Conference action. Dallas Forler caught two touchdowns in the win. Zak Miranda and Dallas Forler each caught a touchdown for the Artesians.
Cardinal Ritter 63, Shenandoah 35
Jake Purichia had a hand in four touchdowns and Jake Hagan and Tommy Waites scored three TDs each, powering Class 2A No. 3 Cardinal Ritter (7-2) to a road victory over Shenandoah (7-2).
Perry Meridian 45, Bloomington South 24
Connor Smith passed for 343 yards and four touchdowns, and he also rushed for a score for Perry (5-4).
Roncalli 36, East Central 7
David Holtkamp rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns as the Rebels (6-3) defeated the Trojans (3-6) Friday night. Cam Smock rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Hamilton Southeastern 42, McCutcheon 21
Four players from the Royals (7-2, 7-2) squad scored touchdowns in the win over the Mavericks (3-6, 3-6). Tyler Janney passed for 146 yards and one touchdown. Hunter Hardee rushed for two touchdowns for the Royals.
Guerin Catholic 23, Jay County 8
Drew Dehnke had two touchdown runs and Matthew Labus ran for a third for the Golden Eagles (2-7).
Center Grove 55, Cincinnati LaSalle 37
Max Norris scored on rushes of 46, 75 and 85 yards for Class 6A No. 3 Center Grove (8-1).
Monroe Central 35, Edinburgh 14
Lancers (4-5) quarterback Bobby Simpson threw for 106 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.
Indian Creek 42, South Decatur 16
Brendan Smith scored four touchdowns, three on the ground, as the visiting Braves (7-2, 4-1 Mid-Indiana Football) beat the Cougars (3-6, 1-4).
Scecina 49, Lutheran 13
Jordan Brown rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns as the Crusaders (7-2, 6-1) defeated the Saints (5-4, 3-4) in Indiana Crossroads Conference action. Elijah Broschart rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Bishop Chatard 18, Tech 7
Chase Sadler kicked field goals of 30, 41 and 22 yards for the Class 4A No. 4 Trojans (6-3) against the host Titans (4-5).
Heritage Christian 48, Northwest 22
Jake White threw five touchdown passes and Andy Hunt scored five touchdowns to lead the host Patriots (5-4) past the Space Pioneers (1-8).
Fort Wayne Concordia 34, Brebeuf Jesuit 27
A touchdown with less than 2 minutes remaining gave the Cadets (6-3) a victory over the Braves (6-3). LeVante’ Bellamy led Brebeuf’s offensive attack with 167 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.
Cincinnati Moeller 35, Cathedral 14
Three players scored rushing touchdowns in the Fighting Crusaders’ (8-0) win over the Class 5A No. 3 Irish (4-5). Irish quarterback Collin Barthel threw for 178 yards and a touchdown to Evan Whigham.
Hamilton Heights 64, Peru 27
Monte Reed completed all 10 of his pass attempts — five of them for touchdowns — helping rally the Class 3A No. 8 Huskies (7-2, 6-1) past the host Tigers (4-5, 2-5) for a Mid-Indiana Conference triumph.
