The No. 2-seeded Manitowoc Lutheran baseball team allowed five first-inning runs and couldn’t recover in a 10-4 road loss to No. 1 Gibralter in a regional championship game of the WIAA Division 3 State Baseball Tournament on Wednesday.

Gibralter led 6-0 before the Lancers scored their four runs in the fifth inning. Gibralter answered with a run in the same inning and added three more in the sixth.

Lutheran committed seven errors as Kyle Staudt started and took the loss. In six innings he allowed 10 runs — five earned — on eight hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Offensively, the Lancers had four hits as David Menk was 2-for-3 with two RBI while Garrett Buch was 1-for-3 with a run. Also for Lutheran, Peter Menges had one run and an RBI and Adam Englebrecht was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
