Kiel’s ninth-seeded boys basketball team punched a ticket to a second-round postseason game after surviving a tight Division 3 regional quarterfinal game on Wednesday.

The Raiders (8-15) upset eighth-seeded North Fond du Lac, 47-43, in a postseason game that had been postponed on Tuesday night.

The win sets up a regional semifinal on Friday night at first-seeded Oostburg.

Andrew Huss scored 14 points to lead the Tigers (17-6) to a 60-45 win in a Division 3 matchup on Wednesday.

Michael Voelker poured in 14 points and Jason Brandt added 10 more for New Holstein (3-18). But a slow start doomed the Huskies, who trailed 11-2 after the first quarter and were down 29-12 at halftime.

The Rams kept the game close most of the way, but clutch shooting late in the game helped Bonduel steal away with the Division 4 regional quarterfinals win.

“They just hit some shots down the stretch, and we weren’t hitting our shots in the fourth quarter,” Random Lake coach Joe Stroede said.

Aaron Rathke scored 13 points to lead the Rams, who finished the season with a 7-16 record.
