The Manitowoc Lincoln, Kiel and Roncalli boys soccer teams will all be in action today as the WIAA soccer tournament begins regional play throughout the state.
The No. 6 seeded Ships (11-10-0) take on host No. 3 Oshkosh West (10-5-0) in Division 1, a team Lincoln hasn’t faced this season but both have faced common opponents. Both the Ships and Wildcats have lost to Sheboygan North while earning a win against Green Bay Southwest. As a No. 8 seed last season, Lincoln lost its playoff opener.
In Division 3, No. 7 Kiel (5-15-1) visits No. 2 New Holstein-Elkhart Lake (13-7-2) while No. 6 Roncalli (3-14-2) travels to No. 3 St. Mary Central (14-7-0) in Division 4.
The Raiders lost twice to the Huskies during the Eastern Wisconsin Conference season by scores of 2-0, and 6-0. Both teams were in Division 2 last season, dropping down one with the addition of a fourth division this season.
The Jets didn’t fare any better against the Zephyrs in Packerland Conference action, losing both meetings by identical 8-0 margins. This is a rematch of a playoff opener last year, which SMC, a No. 6 seed, edged the No. 11 Jets 4-3.
