WIAA boys swimming roundup: Lincoln's Hochkammer advances

The Manitowoc Lincoln boys swim team’s Aaron Hochkammer won the 100-yard backstroke at Saturday’s Ships-hosted Division 1 sectional to advance to next weekend’s WIAA State Swimming and Diving Championships in Madison.

Hochkammer was Lincoln’s only State qualifier by winning in 54.7 seconds — nearly two seconds better than Bayport’s second-place finisher James Muhlenbeck (56.21).

Hochkammer was the only Lincoln automatic qualifier.

James Wise qualified by finishing first in diving with a 435.40 for the Valders-Brillion-Chilton co-op.

Kiel and Two Rivers, which also competed, did not have any automatic qualifiers.

For Kiel, Noah Draxler had the team’s high finish was he was third in the 100 backstroke (1:00.79) behind Grafton winner Al Nennig (52.55).

Two Rivers was led by Josh ladwig who was third in the 200 individual medley (2:16.67) behind Grafton winner Kieran Paddock (2:10.44).
