WIAA girls tennis roundup: Kohler advances everyone to sectionals

Kohler’s girls tennis team advanced to sectionals in all seven flights at the WIAA Division 2 subsectional meet, held Tuesday at the Sports Core.

The Blue Bombers, who won the Eastern Wisconsin Conference championship, tied for first with Roncalli — which beat Kohler during the season — in team points after subsectionals. The sectional champion advances to Team State.

Sectionals is Thursday, also at the Sports Core.

On Tuesday at No. 1 singles, Sheboygan Falls junior Shauna Stoffregen (10-4) and Kohler junior Audra Hoffmann (23-4) moved on to sectionals.

At No. 2, Kohler senior Elyse Gutschow (19-6) advanced. At No. 3, Blue Bombers sophomore Anna Mesalles (19-7) qualified for sectionals. And at No. 4, Kohler junior Leight Schlecht (14-7) advanced.

In doubles, advancing for Kohler was: At No. 1, sophomore Allie Bryce and junior Katie Lindow (11-16); at No. 2, sophomore Frannie Hillstrom and freshman Jamie Lewis (13-9); and at No. 3, sophomores Amelia Grose and Emily Guesneau (18-4).

Team Scores: Kohler 24, Roncalli 24, Sheboygan Falls 12, Chilton 6, Oshkosh Lourdes 6, Kewaunee 2, Two Rivers 2, Kiel 0, Marinette 0

Division 1

Plymouth’s Elizabeth Raeder advanced to sectionals at No. 1 singles at the Beaver Dam subsectional.

Raeder, a senior, improved to 22-6 on the season. She was the lone Panthers player to move on to the next round.

Team Scores: West Bend East 24, Slinger 18, Hartford 14, Fond du Lac 10, Plymouth 6, West Bend West 4, Beaver Dam 2, Port Washington 0.
