WIAA gymnastics: Lincoln pair does well at State

The Manitowoc Lincoln gymnastics team’s Alyssa DeZeeuw finished 17th out of 26 individuals in the all-around competition while teammate Randi Levendusky tied for 17th in the floor exercise on Friday night at the WIAA Division 1 State Gymnastics Championships in Wisconsin Rapids.

Levendusky finished with a score of 8.917 as Burlington’s Molly Benavides won the event with a 9.6.

DeZeeuw’s high finish was a tie for eighth on the uneven bars as she had a 9.1 as Burlington’s Bailey Fitzpatrick won the event with a 9.6. DeZeeuw also finished 23rd on beam (8.433) as Madison Memorial’s Caroline Smith won with a 9.583.

DeZeeuw, who recorded an all-around score of 35.216 to trail Fitzpatrick’s winning score of 38.216, also had scores on floor (9.133) and vault (8.55) but did not qualify for the events.
