Luxemburg-Casco and Coleman both advanced to WIAA state team wrestling championships with semifinal wins on this afternoon.
Both clinched their victories with back-to-back pins by their 220- and 285-pounders at the UW Field House.
Luxemburg-Casco, who is seeking its second straight Division 2 title, upended Ellsworth 35-25. Coleman, who is going after its fourth straight D3 title, topped Clear Lake 39-22.
L-C will face Mauston, while Coleman will go against top-ranked Lancaster at 6 p.m.
In the semifinals, the Spartans ripped off five straight victories from 170 to heavyweight, where Newton Smerchek recorded a first-period pin after Luke Destiche did the same at 220.
L-C also collected bonus points from Jordan Pardowsky, as he won a 18-7 major decision over Gable Frandson, the D2 160 state champion. Junior Dan Dorner also picked up a 9-1 major at 195 over Jacob Murphy.
Overall, the Spartans won nine of the 14 matches.
Coleman also won nine of 14 matches, but didn’t have any result in bonus points until Mason Mergener got a pin at 160, which was the first of four falls for the Cougars.
C.J. Pillath (220) and Coty Rosner (285) clinched the victory after Isaac Nowak was pinned at 195.
