WIAA state track: Two Rivers' Novy 3rd in pole vault; Winter qualifies for finals in girls 200, 400

Two Rivers senior Ashton Novy finished third in the Division 2 boys pole vault with a leap of 13 feet, 9 inches at the WIAA state track and field championships on Friday.

Manitowoc Lutheran junior Rachel Winter qualified for the finals in the girls 200-meter dash, taking ninth at 27.21. Winter also finished fourth in the 400 preliminaries in 1:00.47 to advance to Saturday’s finals.

In other results from Friday’s events at Veterans Memorial Stadium at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse:

Division 1

Sidney Reindl of Manitowoc Lincoln finished 8th in her heat of the 200-meter dash prelims with a time of 27.59.

Division 2

Freshman Kayla Lallensack of Kiel finished 16th in the girls 200-meter dash at 28.52.

Kiel junior Aaron Field did not qualify for the boys 200-meter dash finals, finishing 14th in 23.81.

Valders placed seventh in the 3,200-meter boys relay in 8 minutes, 15.43 seconds, one second off its sectional time that earned the team a sixth seed.

Division 3

Manitowoc Lutheran senior Sara Herzog qualified for Saturday’s finals in the 300 hurdles after running a 50.16 in the prelims.

Manitowoc Lutheran finished 15th in the 3,200 boys relay in 8:40.78.
