WILLIAMSVILLLE, N.Y.-Williamsville South won its playoff opener against West Seneca East 4-0 Tuesday afternoon at South.
South which completed an unbeaten regular season with a win over Clarence Saturday afternoon opened the scoring at the 15 minute mark of the first half. Sophomore Jamie Boyar set up senior Carissima Cutrona for the first of Cutrona’s three goals on the day.
Two minutes later the senior forward, who has verbally committed to Colgate struck again. This time she was set up by junior forward Maria Suchyna.
At the 37 minute mark, South which kept the pressure on throughout the game struck again. This time sophomore Elizabeth Moore set up junior Fiona Dargan. The Billies led 3-nothing at halftime.
Cutrona completed her hat trick and finished the scoring for the day with an unassisted goal at the four minute mark of the second half.
Rachel Grammp had three saves in 80 minutes for the Billies.
Williamsville South will play rival Williamsville East in the second round of the playoffs Thursday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
