AMHERST, N.Y.-Williamsville South remained unbeatean Monday night with a 5-0 win over Amherst.
Senior Carissima Cutrona led the way with four goals. It was a nine point night for Cutrona who will play collegiately at Colgate next fall. She started the scoring at the three minute mark of the first half off a feed from freshman Nicole Gruber. Cutrona fired a shot that the keeper got her hands on but couldn’t stop and South was off and running.
Four minutes later junior Fiona Dargan set up Cutrona for her second goal of the night. Dargan took the ball to the outside and found a wide open Cutrona in front of the net. Cutrona buried it to give South a two goal lead.
Seven minutes later Cutrona set up sophomore Jamie Boyar. Boyar placed the ball nicely using the outside of her left foot. It was Boyar’s seventh goal of the season and South led three nothing at halftime. Cutrona added two second half goals to give her 18 goals on the season. Gruber and Dargan each two assists on the night.
Emily Smith and Kim Brace shared the shutout for South. Smith had two saves in 40 minutes and Brace had three saves in her 40 minutes of action.
South is 11-0 on the season. The Billies host Starpoint Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 pm. Amherst is 5-7-1 on the season.
