Gibraltar (Fish Creek, Wis.) High School seems to be enjoying its first year of 8-man football.
One year after the Vikings' 11-man squad went 1-7 and was outscored 284-85, Gibraltar is 5-0 in the Great 8 Conference. Following Saturday's 90-18 win over Oakfield, the Vikings are outscoring opponents 378-74.
That's 75.6 points per game.
“We’re hitting on all cylinders,” Vikings coach Pat Keehan told the Door County Advocate after Gibraltar's latest rout. “I would say we’ve over-achieved somewhat. You take advantage of the system and you take advantage of the players that you have.”
The Vikings struggled mightily at the 11-man level and are dominating the 8-man game. Is there a 10-man league they could join?
