THE WINNER: Tevis Bartlett
THE BASICS
School: Cheyenne (Wyo.) East
Grade: Junior
Position: QB/DB
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 215 pounds
Athletic achievement: He led the Thunderbirds to a 10-2 record and the Class 4A state championship this past season. Bartlett led Class 4A with 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns rushing on 230 carries. He also passed for 1,521 yards and 13 TDs, while amassing 57 solo tackles and 30 assisted tackles on defense. Also the Class 4A Offensive Player of the Year, he was selected to the Casper Star-Tribune Super 25 team.
Academic excellence: Bartlett has maintained a 4.0 GPA.
Exemplary character: A state champion wrestler, he has volunteered locally as an elementary school mentor.
THE PRAISE
“Bartlett is a great player,” said Don Julian, head coach at Sheridan (Wyo.). “He’s a tough, hard-nosed kid and he plays great on both sides of the ball.”
THE FUTURE: Bartlett will be a senior next fall.
