Girls Golfer of the Year

Hannah O’Sullivan

School: Phoenix Xavier Prep.

Class: Sophomore.

Season recap: O’Sullivan claims the award for the second straight year after winning her second Division I championship in as many seasons. She shot 73-67 for a 4-under 140, winning the tournament by 3 strokes and helping Xavier defend its Division I team title. O’Sullivan has aspirations of playing on the LPGA Tour, but first hopes to attend school and play golf at a top university.

O’Sullivan’s comments: “I feel honored. Being able to play for Xavier means a lot to me, and I really appreciate everyone’s support. I couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help. I think I made some improvements from last year, which I’m happy about. My game wasn’t always where I wanted it to be, but I think I managed myself really well, and I feel good about how I played this year.”

Coach Sister Lynn Winsor’s comments: “All year long, she played beautifully. Her consistency is definitely one of the most important skills she has. She practices a tremendous amount, she works hard on her game — not only the skill part of it, but the mental game — and I think that’s one of the things that really makes her a great golfer. Anything a coach would want in a student-athlete, Hannah certainly personifies.”
