ZHS' tennis team takes down Claymont

UHRICHSVILLE

The Zanesville tennis team battled through early rain to overcome host Claymont 4-1 today.

The Blue Devils won all three singles matches as Derald Madson defeated Josh Keen 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1; Brenton Osborne beat C.J. Jenkins 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and Adrik Price edged Skylar Smolak 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.

Zanesville also won second doubles when Cody Dent and David Griffin topped Derek Beal and Garrett Lewis 6-1, 6-0. Claymont scored its lone win at No. 1 doubles as Jarrod Wise and Keenan Kadres won 7-5, 6-3 against Andrew Griffin and Nick Malek.

Zanesville improved to 5-7 in the East Central Ohio League and 9-7 overall. The Blue Devils host Newark at 4:30 p.m. today with a chance for back-to-back 10-win seasons on the line.
