Coach of the Year
Tonya Hunter, Shades Valley
She led her team to a 31-4 record and the Class 6A state title – the first in any girls sport for her school. She is the first Alabama female to play for and coach a state champion team.
First Team
G Leah Strain, Woodland, 5-4, Sr.
Straight-A student averaged 22.6 points and 6.8 assists while leading 34-1 team to the Class 2A state title and earning second MVP award.
G Morgan William, Shades Valley (Irondale), 5-4, Sr.
The Mississippi State signee used her great quickness to average 16.6 points and earn MVP honors for the 31-4 Class 6A state champs.
C Alexis Jennings, Sparkman (Harvest), 6-3, Sr.
Averaged 22.6 points and 10.7 rebounds for the 33-3 Class 6A state runner-up and signed with the University of Kentucky.
F Shakayla Thomas, Sylacauga, 6-0, Sr. (Player of the Year)
Florida State signee, she averaged 33.1 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists, finishing her career with 4,242 points – No. 4 in state history.
F Riley Northway, Brewer (Somerville), 6-1, Sr.
An “A” student and also a volleyball standout, she averaged 21.6 points and 10.6 rebounds and led the state in free throw shooting (183 of 208 for .879).
