Guy Almquist, Capital (Helena)
A year after an overtime loss to Hellgate in the Class AA state title game, Almquist and the Bruins avenged that heartbreaking defeat by winning 20 of their 21 games to again reach the title game, where they met and defeated Hellgate in a 51-47 nail biter.
F Tres Tinkle, Hellgate (Missoula), 6-6, Jr. (Player of the Year)
While leading the Knights to the Class AA state title game—where he scored 17 second-half points in a narrow loss to Helena Capital—Tinkle averaged 21.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.0 steals.
F Jared Samuelson, Billing West (Billings), 6-6, Jr.
The top scorer on a team that reached the Class AA semifinals, Samuelson averaged 18.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists for the Golden Bears.
F Brendan Howard, Great Falls (Great Falls), 6-4, Fr.
Although he was usually the youngest player on the floor, Howard was also usually the best player on the floor, averaging 18.6 points and 10 rebounds for a Bison team that reached quarterfinals of the state’s Class AA tournament.
G Kendal Manuel, Skyview (Billings), 6-3, Jr.
Averaging 21.1 points and 5.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals each time he took the floor allowed Manuel and the Falcons to reach the quarterfinals of the Class AA state tournament.
G Dane Warp, Capital Havre (Havre), 6-3, So.
Among the top scorers in Class AA with 24 points per game Warp also carried his weight on the other end of the court, leading the class with 3.1 steals per game.
