2014 All-Area Team: Football defense

The annual News-Press All-Area Teams will have a different format this season but are still selected based on recommendations and votes by area coaches. We will continue to name a first team, second team and honorable mentions for all sports. We will also continue to select Players of the Year, but those athletes will not be announced until our annual All Stars banquet scheduled for May 27. All first-team athletes from every sport are invited to attend the banquet that evening and will receive free admission along with two complimentary tickets. We will unveil our Players of the Year from the pool of first team athletes at the celebration and also our boys and girls Athletes of the Year. Detailed information will be passed along to your athletic directors closer to the event.
