In Maryland, Frederick Douglass Head Coach Julius Pinkney was named Coach of the Year. Earlier this month, Pinkney led the Eagles to a perfect 14-0 record and the school’s first state title with a 38-0 win over Dunbar in the Maryland 2A state championship at M&T Bank Stadium. After the victory, Douglass told WUSA 9: “It was one of those magical seasons … It was the perfect storm.” For the 2014 season, Douglass averaged 44 points per game and recorded a total of eight shutouts.

Bullis quarterback Dwayne Haskins was named Maryland Offensive Player of the Year. He led the Bulldogs (9-1) to their second-straight Interstate Athletic Conference (IAC) title with a 34-26 victory over Georgetown Prep. This season, the junior passed for 1,936 yards and 22 touchdowns.
