Our annual Westchester/Putnam All-Star and Rockland All-County football teams were published today in The Journal News. For the first time I can remember (and maybe ever), the players of the year were repeat selections.Here’s a look at all the players and coaches who were honored:

WESTCHESTER/PUTNAM ALL-STARS.

For the second straight year, Rye quarterback Andrew Livingston was our pick for the Westchester/Putnam player of the year. Livingston is The Journal News’ first repeat choice since New Rochelle’s Ray Rice in 2003-04. Livingston, a four-year starter, broke Section 1’s all-time passing mark for career yards (5,716) and for single-season yards (2,246). He also led Rye to its first Section 1 title in six years and the first Class A championship in program history.

“I’ve just been blessed and fortunate and spoiled, frankly, to have him,” coach Dino Garr said.

ROCKLAND ALL-COUNTY.

Likewise, for the second straight year, North Rockland lineman Eric Favors was our pick for Rockland County player of the year. Despite a substandard season for the Red Raiders (by their standards), Favors, a four-year starter, had a hand in 138 tackles, 14 sacks and five forced fumbles. He also scored the first and only touchdown of his four-year career when he returned an interception 77 yards in his final playoff game.

“I’ve never had a kid work harder than him,” coach Tom Lynch said.
