BOYS GOLF: Three members of the Lansing Catholic team which repeated as Division 3 state champions were among the 12 mid-Michigan area players recently selected to receive all-state recognition by the Michigan Interscholatic Golf Coaches Association (MIGCA).
Senior Brent Marshall and juniors Patrick Gillespie and Niko Voutsaras were joined as Division 3 all-staters by Portland sophomore Rhet Schrauben and Olivet senior Keagan Carpenter.
Four other golfers reached all-state in other divisions: DeWitt junior Owen Beyer, Mason junior Jason Brandt and St. Johns freshman Zach Rosendale in Division 2 plus Fowler senior Austin Feldpausch in Division 4.
Three more area golfers attained honorable mention all-state status: Holt freshman Tony Fuentes in Division 1, East Lansing junior Joe Croom in Division 2, and Lansing Catholic sophomore Owen Rush in Division 3.
GIRLS TENNIS: Division 3 No. 1 singles state champion and Williamston sophomore Sara Daavettila and Division 2 No. 1 singles state champion and Okemos junior Emily Struble were among the 12 mid-Michigan area players recently selected as all-state players by the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches’ Association (MHSTeCA).
They were joined by Mason senior and 2012 No. 1 singles state champion Abby Perkins and Mason freshman and No. 2 singles player Olivia Hanover in Division 2, Haslett senior Shea Donahue in Division 3, Grand Ledge senior Lauren Sharp in Division 1, and Lansing Catholic junior Calla Ramont and Portland senior Katie Blake in Division 4.
Doubles teams honored as all-state included East Lansing seniors Sarah Brainard and Emily Volovsek in Division 2 plus Williamston seniors Caitlyn Chick and Delaney Nikolai in Division 3 as honorable mention selections.
