Howk named NSIC wrestler of week
St. Cloud State University senior Josh Howk has been named the NSIC wrestler of the week.
Howk, from Oak Grove, Missouri, had a first-place finish for St. Cloud State at the Husky Open at 149 pounds. Howk went 4-0 on his way to winning the title. Howk pinned Concordia-Moorhead’s Yonas Gebreab in a dual earlier in the week.
Howk is 11-1 on the season with two first-place finishes at tournaments.
High School Hoops League forming
St. Cloud Park and Recreation is organizing the High School Hoops League.
Anyone in grades 9-12 and not playing on a school’s team is welcome to join. Games are played at the Whitney Rec Center on Sunday evenings starting Jan. 4.
Teams may have up to 10 players on their roster. Individuals not on a team wishing to play may call to have your name added to a list and you will be placed on a team. The cost is $325 per team. The registration deadline is Dec. 29.

Griffen to appear at Crossroads Center
Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen will make a special appearance at the Fan HQ store at Crossroads Center on Tuesday.
Griffen will sign autographs and pose for photographs from 7-8 p.m.

Kimball basketball game postponed
The Kimball at Browerville boys basketball game scheduled for Monday was postponed because of icy conditions.
Kimball activities director Byron Westrich said no makeup date has been scheduled.
Cathedral hockey game rescheduled
St. Cloud Cathedral’s boys hockey game with Orono that was postponed Saturday has been rescheduled. The Crusaders play Orono at 2:15 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
The game was postponed because of illness and injuries to Orono’s players.
