TACOMA, Wash. — Tramaine Isabell scored a tournament-high 34 points to lead Garfield to a 68-59 victory over Richland to claim its first Class 4A boys state championship since 1998.

Isabell forced the action by repeatedly attacking the basket for Garfield. Isabell converted just five field goals, four coming via 3-pointers, but made it to the free throw line 16 times in the game. Garfield converted more free throws (20 of 30) than Richland attempted in the game (13 of 18).

Richland kept the contest close throughout. Trailing 56-49 in the fourth quarter, Steven Beo drilled a 3-pointer and Payton Radliff followed with a basket to pull within two. Jacob DeVries blocked a 3-point attempt from Jashaun Agosto and took it the distance as Richland tied the game at 58-all with 2:04 left to play.

After a pair of free throws from Torrence Baker, Garfield forced turnovers by Richland on the ensuing two possessions that led to four more points as Garfield pulled away. Free throws from Isabell and Brayon Blake down the stretch sealed the victory for Garfield.

Blake was the only other player to finish in double-digits for Garfield with 12. Beo led the way for Richland with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Radliff added 12 points and Nathan Streufert finished with 11.

Earlier Saturday, Issaquah scored 27 points in the fourth quarter to rally for a 60-49 victory over Todd Beamer to take third place. After trailing 36-33 after three quarters, Issaquah outscored Todd Beamer 27-13 in the final period to surge to the victory. Issaquah managed to go on a 17-1 run to take control. Ty Gibson led Issaquah with 18 points. Jake Henke added 14. Trey Burch-Manning led Todd Beamer with 16.

Also, Dan Kingma scored 22 points to lead Jackson to a 61-44 victory over Gonzaga Prep to take fourth place. Jason Todd added 17 points and 10 rebounds for Jackson. Reed Hopkins led Gonzaga Prep with 15.
