The first day of official practice is less than a month away.
But Tuscola athletic director Rodney Mashburn said Tuesday that his school does not have a firm deadline in place to find a football coach.
“We’ll keep looking until we find the right person,” Mashburn said.
Former Mountaineers coach Brandon Allen was introduced as the new coach at Morganton Freedom on Monday.
Tuscola posted the vacant position that same day on the Haywood County Schools website:
Head Football Coach/Teacher – Tuscola High School – Full-time – beginning as soon as possible – must be licensed and highly qualified in North Carolina – contact Principal Travis Collins at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition, Hendersonville announced Monday that longtime coach B.J. Laughter was stepping aside to become the Bearcats’ athletic director and an assistant principal. He will be replaced on the sidelines by Hendersonville alum Eric Gash, who is also the Western Highlands Conference program’s girls basketball coach.
Gash and Allen’s successor at Tuscola will be the seventh and eighth new coaches for Western North Carolina since last season ended in December.
