KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — AL Brown’s men’s soccer team defeated North Mecklenburg High School on Monday by a final score of 5-2. The score wasn’t a perfect indication of how the game occurred. AL Brown was able to secure a 1-0 lead at halftime thanks to Jalen Jackson’s goal and brilliant goalkeeping by Matt Abba, but North Meck was able to take a 2-1 lead with a second-half surge. The Wonders managed to tie the game at 2-2 to force overtime.

During the first overtime period, AL Brown added another goal to make it 3-2 heading into the second session. The Vikings were unable to contain Brown’s scoring, allowing two more goals. The Wonders held the Vikings scoreless until the end, winning 5-2. Jackson led Brown with three goals in the contest.

The Wonders are now 1-0 in MECKA play and will travel to Vance on September 10. North Meck will host West Charlotte on September 10.
