After mishandling the onside kick to open the second half, St. James tight end Jalen Harris was looking to redeem himself.
The 6-foot-5, 243-pound Auburn commit did just that midway through the third quarter, when he pulled in a 7-yard touchdown to give Alabama a two-point lead in a 36-30 win in the 28th annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.
“It meant the world to me. I muffed the first play of the second half with the onside kick, so I kind of felt like I let me team down a little bit,” Harris said. “But to come back and just do that, it was one of the greatest feelings I’ve ever had.”
Harris’ future Auburn teammate Kerryon Johnson from Madison Academy took home the Alabama MVP. Harris said he’s already looking forward to teaming up on the Plains.
“I already told him. I said, ‘I can’t wait for the next four years. I want to get down there right now,'” Harris said.
