Alicia Hansen sets new state career softball home run record

It was only a solo shot, but Alicia Hansen’s first-inning homer in an 8-0 defeat of Roger Bacon (Cincinnati) on Sunday gave the Bishop Fenwick (Franklin, Ohio) senior the state career softball home run record. It was her 41st career home run, surpassing the mark set from 2009 to 20012 by West Liberty-Salem (West Liberty) player Becka Peterson, now a senior infielder at Wright State.

Hansen has signed to play softball at the University of Tennessee at Martin and her play is a big reason the Falcons are 10-1 this season. She is hitting .806 with eight homers this season.

“She has been just a blessing,” Fenwick coach Tyler Callahan told the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Mike Dyer. “She is an incredible leader. She is an extremely talented player.”
