The defending champion in the girls’ Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic state tournament was eliminated Saturday afternoon.
Glasgow — ranked 15th in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings — beat Owensboro Catholic 54-39 in the first girls’ semifinal at Frankfort Convention Center.
The Scotties (17-6) will face Danville (13-4) in the championship game at noon EST Sunday.
Danville eliminated No. 12 Newport Central Catholic 71-55 in the other semifinal.
The Admirals held NewCath scoreless in the final 4:42, ending the game with a 17-0 run.
Boys’ semifinals
Newport Central Catholic will defend its boys’ All “A” state title in today’s 2 p.m. championship game against Cordia.
Newport Catholic (19-3), ranked No. 7 in the Litratings, trounced Lexington Christian 78-49 in the first boys’ semifinal.
Cordia (16-5) routed Betsy Layne 80-52 in the other semifinal.
